So the first project I am going to showcase from the house is the kitchen island upgrade, only because I cannot seem to find the “before” pictures of the kitchen. So we will work backwards I suppose. The kitchen now is far from done, but only a few things remain (i.e., baseboard trim, window trim, crown molding, antiquing the cabinets, and adding the farm house sink).
Back to the island. So I started with two standard base cabinets. One of those cabinets I converted to fit a pull-out microwave. Electrical was added to the island for the microwave and an outlet for use of appliances. The goal was to add two bar stools to the island, without losing walkway space. Thankfully I was able to accomplish that. My main source of fastening was mostly pocket holes. The rest were mitered corners and then a shaker-style design, which I trimmed out. The entire project came out beautiful and it really ties the room together (Big Lebowski quote). Hope you enjoy! 🙂
